That was 2024...
It was a big year in the live music scene for Newgate Crowd, and I enjoyed going along for the ride!
Kicking off with a single and music video release for 'Change of Mood' we then got to the business of making music videos again, as part of the Adelaide Fringe 10 x 10 project. Driven by LA filmaker Norwood Cheek, the challenge was 10 bands, team with 10 filmakers and produce 10 music videos in 10 days. Working with up & coming film maker, Chase Rodgers we had a blast putting some award winning acting abilities to 'Remote' from the Auditory Processing EP.
And gigs, we had a few...playing with awesome bands. First time gigs with Jon Ann, Fair Call, Toob Scoots, Perfect 50, Down and Out, Jongo Bones and the Barefoot Bandits, Macey, Choosing Sides, Molly Rocket, Witch Hunt, Bassment Displacement, Guue, Pucker Up, Mantra and Two Times Shy. We reunited with old mates Exit Plan, Full Cream, Looch, Free Drinks, Moshpit Girlfriend and we went a couple of rounds with St Loki, LOLA, Nocturnal Animals, Townhouse, Swainsona and as always, enjoyed some all in covers! Playing with greats Chelsea Manor for their farewell show, tied off the year for gigs.
Some other firsts and highlights:
Bootcamp with Steve from Future Artist Development and lit a fire in our bellies
Northern Sound Systems holiday bands - such a great initiative for 14-17yr olds
Live on Three D Radio's Feedback Loop with Will Everett
Showed our faces at the South Australian Music Awards...we may not be able to show our faces in 25, but then that's rock n roll🤘
We give praise and thanks to the venues and their owners, sound & light techs, bar & security staff. Grateful for what a thriving indie live music scene there is in this state!
There were less gigs in the second half of 24 and that's because we were cooking up for what's to come in 2025...but more about this later. Here's the highlights:
